DNS Authentication is available as an option instead of email validation for the following certificates
What DNS record type do I need to create?
The DNS record required is a CNAME record. If you want to use the validation method make sure you are able to edit your DNS records.
What is the required DNS string?
As part of the order process you will be shown the CNAME record you need to create. This is in the following format
s<randomstring>.domain.com CNAME <timestamp>.domain.com
The random string is provided by us as part of the order process. The timestamp needs to be a period within the last 24 hours. When you view the order status we will automatically generate a timestamp for you.
I have added the DNS string now what?
The system will automatically check for your DNS entry at regular intervals. You can also use the “Poll Authentication” link within your order management page. Due to how DNS works however it is possible it may take a few hours after adding the record to your DNS server before it is detected.
Why is my DNS record not being detected?
Due to DNS caching it can take a few hours for the record to propagate and be publicly available to the authentication servers. If you need your certificate quickly we recommend File Authentication or Email Authentication.
I have already started my order can I switch to DNS Auth?
No. It is not possible to switch to DNS Auth from any other method. You must instead cancel your order and start a new one. It is only possible to switch from File or DNS Auth to Email Auth.
I am unable to add the required DNS string what can I do?
You can switch to Email Authentication via your order management link.
Can I switch to File Auth from DNS Auth?
No. As above it is only possible to switch to Email Auth unless you cancel and restart your order.
